Prospective Students
Division of Turkish Education
Our division was established within the Faculty of Education for the purpose of training Turkish language teachers. In addition to the four-year undergraduate program, there are also three different master’s degree programs affiliated with the Graduate Education Institute, namely Master’s Program in Turkish Education with Thesis, Master’s Program in Turkish Education without Thesis, and Non-Thesis Master’s Program in Teaching Turkish to Foreigners, as well as a doctoral program in Turkish Education. The language of instruction in all undergraduate and graduate Turkish Education programs is Turkish.
Graduates of our division, whose academic staff consists of 2 professors, 3 associate professors, 1 assistant professor, 1 lecturer, and 1 research assistant, may work with the title of “Turkish Teacher” in the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades of public and private schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, as well as in private study centers. In addition, they may work in media and publishing institutions, educational and cultural institutions in Türkiye and abroad, archives and museums, Turkology centers, and private and public institutions related to the Turkic Republics. They may also teach Turkish to people of Turkic origin and to foreigners in relevant centers and institutions in Türkiye and abroad. If our graduates prefer to continue with postgraduate programs such as master’s and doctoral studies, they may work as academics in the relevant departments of universities.
Our division aims to train Turkish language teachers who have the capacity and competence to raise future generations for secondary schools in line with both the needs of our country and the requirements of the age. In addition to strengthening students’ professional knowledge and experience, our division also attaches importance to directing them toward artistic, communicative, and cultural activities that support their personal development and improve their creativity and social relationships. For this reason, theatre and drama education are provided within our division, and students are offered stage experience. In addition, our students are able to participate in various poetry- and story-based programs organized throughout the year. They are also able to engage in various social activities through courses such as community service practices.
